Cathy & Ray – A Celebration of God and Love

Congratulations again to Cathy & Ray Hawthorne….a FABULOUS couple indeed, we think you will agree! More sneaks from the photo shoot as well coming soon!

We met Cathy and her lovely mother Verdie at the Claremont Resort & Spa bridal faire hosted by Modern Bridal which we exhibited at earlier this year. And we were ecstatic when Cathy contacted us to photograph and videotape her wedding. I haven’t shot a wedding at the Claremont in some time and I was looking forward to her day with great anticipation. The ceremony location was uber fabulous and I recommend highly to any bride looking for a church in Oakland, to consider the great historic First Presbyterian Church. I knew her day was going to be amazing! Boy was that an understatement.

We were honored to have met most of the families the night before at the church reception and on the day of it flowed very nicely. We would also like to thank Frank and Herb of Red Lily Studios on our first video collaboration together, they did an awesome job with the fusion and sneak peek, and more will follow! Stay tuned for the Highlight Film of the entire day.

We’d like to send a heartfelt congratulations and thanks to Cathy, Ray, and the entire family for making us feel like part of the family, and for choosing us to cover their ever so important milestone! Cheers to the happy couple! Can’t wait to hear about your Hawaiian Honeymoon! Aloha!

San Francisco Wedding Photojournalism

Often at weddings one only sees the obvious, one usually looks for what is there, as wedding photo journalists we strive constantly to do this, but we also strive to go a step further. Yes, we capture the moments that our clients expect, and those that are the standard, but often, we capture moments in between. The instances that involve family, guests, and even the bride and groom themselves.

With this approach in mind, our clients come home after a wonderful honeymoon and shortly thereafter are presented with the wedding day from a different perspective. It is thrilling to see the reactions from our clients as they watch their slide show for the very first time. Usually there are tears of joy, giggles, and heartfelt laughter when they see their new spouses in anticipation of the ceremony, grandparents getting funky on the dance floor, a glimpse of their beautiful flower girl blowing out the candles on the wedding cake table, or an image of the bride’s father seeing his little girl for the first time in her wedding gown.

These are the moments that are usually observed by us as wedding photo journalists. It’s not about the obvious, it’s about anticipating what is about to happen, and following the moments that lead to that very instance. Another great reason why my husband and I make it a point to become well acquainted with our clients, their families, wedding party, their traditions, cultures, and yes, dynamics. We often direct our clients in our secret approach and this usually allows for an unobtrusive and smooth work flow on what is a hectic and emotional day.

We would like to share images from our recent and past work that shows the wedding photography from another perspective, our very own. We relish in capturing these moments and freezing time just for our clients. These moments are dear, these moments are there and these moments are cherished wholeheartedly forever and ever.

Our First Anniversary!

Hi everybody! We did it! We survived our FIRST Wedding Annivesary without killing each other. Actually we are so in love that, well, let me spare you the details, it’s far too mooshy for all of you KIDS!
We trotted out to Skates on the Bay in the Berkeley Marina, this is where we had our Wedding Luncheon that followed our ceremony. It’s a lovely 4-star restaurant overlooking the Berkeley Marina with breath taking bay views. The food, SUPERB, the service, wonderful. We walked in and they immediately escorted us to a lovely table for two on the window, just as I had requested. And, they remembered us from our wedding…perfect, this means we will probably get FREE dessert to celebrate, and we did!
It’s so funny however, I took out my almost NEW Canon SD1100 Pink, stuck it in my handbag and off we were…..Boy, I had no idea how soon we forgot how to use a darn point and shoot. It just was NOT as fun anymore, I am so used to my Canon 40D, it was hilarious. Anyway…we had a great dinner hung out in Berkeley on 4th Street for a little while, then we dashed home. We popped open a bottle of bubbly and fearfully sliced our defrosted wedding cake’s top tier, yea, from our wedding last year, and to our surprise the darn cake was AWESOME!!!!!!! Here we thought one year, one bite and one toast, but we at a whole slice each! YUM, and marriage so far…HOW SWEET IT IS! We are so blessed to LOVE what we do and do what we LOVE….Cheers!
Here’s our point and shoot gallery….enjoy!
